How a round goes
Ninety seconds or first to seven, whichever comes first. The stick moves your paddle anywhere in your own half. Where the puck meets the paddle face decides the angle — dead centre mirrors it straight back, out near the rim it flies off sharp — and a paddle moving into the puck hits far harder than a parked one. Sweeping across it adds spin, and a spinning puck curves.
The puck speeds up with every hit. After a goal there is a short face-off, with the serve going towards the side that conceded.
Scoring and winning
A goal each time the puck goes fully through a goal mouth. First to seven wins, or most goals at the buzzer; level at the buzzer is a draw.
Sides go by station: 1 and 3 defend one goal, 2 and 4 the other, so four players is two against two.
Tips
- A swing beats a block: drive into the puck rather than waiting for it.
- The two pips on the puck spin with it, so you can see a curling pass curl from the sofa.
