Under-the-sea birthday party ideas for a home party
Blue paper, a lot of fish, and no actual water in the house. That is the brief.

The Under the Sea pack is $9 on its own, and one theme pack is already included with the Box.
The plan
Two hours of under the sea party
Food
- Blue jelly cups with a gummy fish set into each one.
- Goldfish crackers in a big bowl. Nothing beats them at this party.
- Cucumber "seaweed" ribbons made with a peeler, which children will eat if they are called seaweed.
Decorations
- Streamers hung vertically in a doorway so the kids swim through them.
- Blue tablecloth and paper fish cut out by the birthday kid the night before.
- A bubble machine if you have one. Fifteen dollars, does the work of a whole theme.
One thing that isn’t a screen
A fishing game with magnets and paperclips on paper fish, for the youngest guests.
What usually goes wrong
Sea themes attract water play, and water plus a living room is a bad Saturday. Keep the wet part outside or skip it entirely.
A running order that works
0:00–0:20
Arrival
Guests trickle in over twenty minutes. Have the on-arrival activity out and the TV showing the attract screen.
0:20–0:45
The activity
One thing off the screen, with a clear end. Twenty-five minutes is the ceiling.
0:45–1:00
Cake
Sing, cut, hand it out. Do not do this at the start; sugar first is a mistake you make once.
1:00–1:40
The tournament
Five games on the TV, four kids at a time, names entered once. This is the loudest and easiest forty minutes of the party.
1:40–2:00
Wind down
Free play on the console, party bags by the door, parents arriving. The screen keeps everyone in one room while you hand out bags.
The arcade
All 38 games, in Under the Sea colours
A theme pack is a full reskin — art and palette — over mechanics that already work. These four suit a under the sea party particularly well.
The invitation
3 ways a under the sea invitation can look
